LightPaint started as a light painting camera and not much else. This release is the version where it stops being only that.

Sign in with Apple or Google. No password to invent and nothing to remember.

An account is what carries your camera profiles between devices, gives you an identity in the community feed, and lets support reply to you in a thread rather than by email alone.

You can still use the camera without signing in. The account is for the things that need one.

Some of what follows is part of a paid plan. The app tells you which features, and what your current plan includes, before anything asks you to pay.

Purchases and renewals go through the App Store, so they are managed the same way as every other subscription on your phone.

Point the camera at a scene, ask for an analysis, and get a camera profile suggested for it — shutter, ISO, white balance, trail length and colour, as a starting point you can then change.

Suggestions are clamped to what your particular iPhone and lens can reach, so it will never propose a shutter speed or an ISO your hardware cannot deliver.

AI features run on credits. Free accounts get a one-time starter allowance so you can try them properly; subscribers get an allowance that renews. What you have left is shown in the app.

Publish a shot and see what other people made. Reactions, comments, and profiles you can follow back to someone's other work.

Posting is deliberate and separate from your camera roll — nothing leaves your phone unless you publish it. Everything published is moderated, anything can be reported, and you can delete your own posts and your account at any time.

A library of tracks to put behind your videos, made in-house rather than licensed from a stock library.

That is the point of making our own: you can use them in anything you publish, including monetised and commercial work, without a fee or a copyright claim. The "About This Music" notice in the app has the detail.

Write to a person from inside the app.

Your app version, build, device and iOS version ride along automatically, which is what support would otherwise have to ask you for first. You can attach a screenshot, and you can attach the camera profile that misbehaved — which turns "it does the wrong thing with this profile" from a description into something reproducible.

Replies arrive in the same thread, and you get a notification when one lands. There is no bot in this loop.

The mode list has grown from a handful of light-painting presets to nine, covering steel wool, star trails, vehicle lights, celestial timelapses and rocket launches — day, night and the full ascent as one continuous trail.

Trail length is now set in seconds rather than frames. A frame count only ever meant a duration, and it silently rescaled the trail every time the shutter moved. Setting seconds means a profile authored at one shutter speed still looks right at another — and star trails can finally be asked for in minutes.

ISO, shutter, white balance, exposure, focus and zoom are all directly adjustable, each with an Auto button, alongside a full colour grade and every trail and blend setting.

The shutter is no longer locked at one second during light painting. Long exposures are the point of the app, and the ceiling is now whatever your device supports rather than a fixed cap.
